The countdown for the first game of the 2023 World Series is counting down fast. The excitement for the matchup between the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks keeps on rising with every passing second. To celebrate this momentous occasion, former USA President George W. Bush will now throw the first pitch of the game.
The first pitch ceremony usually invites some of the big names across the planet. This time it will be the former President of the nation who will get things underway at Global Life Field at Game 1. His catching partner will be Rangers’ Hall of Famer Ivan Rodriguez.

Both of these have two have ties with Texas. While Rodriguez played for the side from 1991 to 2002 and again in 2009. His services for them led to the team retiring his jersey number 7 in his honor.
Meanwhile, the former president resides in Dallas, another city in Texas. Before becoming the governor of Texas in 1994, he was a minority stakeholder of the team from 1989 to 1994. This means his presence on the field in Game 1 will be a special moment. This is, however, not the first time he will be throwing the first pitch.
How many times has George W. Bush thrown the first pitch during the World Series?
Throwing the first pitch at an MLB game is considered a great honor. Doing so in the finals of the competition – the World Series is even a greater thing. Former President George W. Bush will now mark his fourth appearance throwing the first pitch during a World Series clash.
The first time he did was a memorable and emotional one. This also involved the Arizona Diamondbacks as they took on the New York Yankees. This happened merely a month after the devasting terror attacks of 9/11. Bush, the leader of the nation at that time wore a bullet-proof vest while throwing the pitch during Game 3 of the series.

His second came nine years after his first in 2010 during Game 4 between the Rangers and San Francisco Giants. His final appearance before this next one came in Game 5 of the 2017 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros.
The fans of the D-Backs would be hoping he brings the luck he brought back in 2001. They are hoping to claim their second World Series title. Whereas, after the heartbreaks of 2010 and 2011, the Rangers would be praying for a better result this time now and finally land that elusive trophy.
