While the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to trend on the internet due to their off field actions, the name of their former player has come under the spotlight once again. Their former pitcher Julio Urias recently dodged a felony charge of domestic violence against him.
The MLB world was stunned when the 27-year-old was arrested on the charges of domestic violence in Septemeber. This development took outside a soccer stadium in Los Angeles where he had attended a soccer game.

This arrest saw him being placed on administrative leave which ended his season and tenure with the Dodgers. However, this was not the first time where he was suspended from the league on alleged domestic violence charges. In 2019, he was handed a 20-game suspension on allegations of pushing a woman.
The DA that was hearing his case decided not to file a domestic violence charge against him by claiming “neither the victim’s injuries nor the defendant’s criminal history justify a felony filing.” This has brought some sort of temporary relief for the Mexican international, whose future in baseball now looks uncertain.
What is next in store for Julio Urias?
The LA Dodgers received a huge shock in September 2023 when one of their main pitchers Julio Urias was arrested on domestic violence charges. While he was released the next day through a $50,000 dollar bond, he was placed on administrative leave.
While the DA did not file any felony charges on him, he could still be charged. According to reports from ESPN, the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office can file a case of misdemeanor on him.

The MLB on the other hand will most likely wait for an outcome from the city’s attorney’s office. After that, it will be up to them to decide what charges could be filed against him. If the pitcher does get suspended again, he will make unwanted history as the first player to be suspended twice for violating the league’s domestic violence policy.
Urias broke on the MLB scene at the age of 19 shortly in the 2016 season. Since then he has gone on to evolve from a rookie to be an important pitcher for the Dodgers.
During his eight-season stint with the Southern California side, Urias has pitched with an era of 3.11 with a positive 60-35 win/loss record. He has also recorded 710 strikeouts and achieved some personal accolades including the NL wins leader in 2021 and ERA leader in 2022.
Before this massive personal development in 2023, he was about to sign a huge deal that could have seen him earn millions. However, with these domestic violence charges against him, it is hard to tell what is next in store for him from here on.
