The Houston Astros had their name written on the biggest prize of baseball as they won the 2022 MLB World Series. According to MLB, the Astros players will cash-in record payments with each of them pocketing $516,437. It’s quite a rise from the $397,000 per share (although shares were more in number), that the Atlanta Braves got for winning the 2021 season.
Call it a fact or a mere coincidence that the Astros held the previous record too for highest postseason cash-outs – $438,901.57, that they snaffled in 2017 when they defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers. The postseason pool saw a 19 percent rise to a record 107.5m from 90.5m last season due to the Wild Card Series addition.
The Astros decided to divide their earnings into 59 perpetual shares and 14.14 partial ones. On the contrary, the National League champions Philadelphia Phillies gave out 72 full shares and 15.03 partials which amounted to $296,255 apiece.

Every playoff teams enjoy a portion of the revenue that comes from the playoff gates. The winner as usual receives the highest cut. The prize pool is constituted of 50 percent of the total money from the wild-card games, 60 percent of Division Series’ initial three matches, another 60 percent of the starting four games of LCS, and the final 60 percent from the gates of the four World Series games.
The Houston Astros put on a stellar show in 2022 that began with an impressive 3-0 rampage of the Seattle Mariners of the American League. They stuck to their superb form which they displayed in a dominant way with four continuous wins against the New York Yankees.
The Astros continued their run into the 2022 World Series as they defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in six games. Jeremy Peña, the shortstop, had an amazing season which made him win the ALCS MVP and World Series MVP awards. His stats after 13 playoff games read – .345/.367/.638 which included four home runs and eight RBI. The Astros will be hoping to reinforce their rosters in the quest for winning the World Series again in 2023.
