In 1946, Jackie Robinson became the first African-American player in Major League Baseball (MLB). Still, before his Brooklyn Dodgers debut, he played for the Montreal Royals – a minor league team in Canada.
The Montreal Royals provided a safe and welcoming environment where Robinson could showcase his talents without fearing discrimination.
