“It just felt like one of those nights”: Jameson Taillon makes honest admission Yankees sweep over LA Angels

Jameson Taillon

New York Yankees’ right-handed pitcher Jameson Taillon recorded a near perfect 6-1, 2.30 in his Thursday night game against Los Angeles Angels, a 2-1 victory for the Yankees. Taillon came as close as six outs in the thrilling battle but missed out on the seventh.

Jameson Taillon was perfect while facing the first 21 batters as he retired them until Angels’ Jared Walsh brought an end to Taillon’s magnificence after he hit a ground ball double up the middle. Isiah Kiner-Falefa made a glittering play to rob Shohei Ohtani of a hit in the seventh which made James Taillon’s perfection as it was.

“It’s an interesting thing to fight while you’re out there,” Taillon said. “In a 0-0 game, you’re naturally going to be fired up anyway, especially when you’re facing a lineup like that. If anything, you just try to channel it, and use it to execute pitches. It can fire you up and make your stuff play up a little bit.”

Yankees were going in for a series sweep on the Lou Gehrig Day after winning Game 1 in the Yankee Stadium 6-1.

The manager Aaron Boone added – “You start letting your mind go there a little bit, The energy of the crowd was cool. That was a really good moment, and obviously a great play.”

Jameson Taillon summed up in his interview the electricity he felt when he was in his natural flow, “The fans got pretty loud, that was firing me up, but it also made me a little more aware of what was going on. You get through the top three hitters of that lineup, and they’re as good as anybody in the game.”

That being said, Boone even went on to emphasize how this particular performance from their talisman could be ‘one of his best’. Knowing that Taillon improved to 6-1 with a 2.30 ERA in 10 starts this season, it is indeed hard to argue with Boone upon the same point.

“It just felt like one of those nights,” the Yankee star concluded, “where we were going to make it happen.”
