“OOOHHHLORDDD”: Jesse Chavez’ unreal ball gets hilariously funny-call by Braves announcer, video goes viral

Jesse Chavez

Atlanta Braves pitcher Jesse Chavez seemed to have grabbed the headline during his team’s catastrophic loss 7-3, against the New York Mets on Wednesday night. With nothing going their way, Chavez had a miserable moment in the seventh innings. What made the matter even worse? It was Braves’ announcers whose two words left everybody in splits.

To those who missed the Wednesday-night action, Jesse Chavez allowed two runners to reach base. As a result of which, he faced runners on second and third with one out. A double from Luis Guilloreme scored one run and left Chavez in the exact same position. This is exactly when the balk-tragedy happened with Braves’ pitcher. Rather than throwing the pitch to Dominic Smith, Chavez committed one of the balkiest balks of all-time. Eventually the runner on third was sent home to score.

So, what is a balk? As per the dignified rules of Major League Baseball, the term ‘balk’ occurs when a pitcher makes an illegal motion on the mound, which the umpire also condemns to be deceitful to the runner. However, this one wasn’t subjective, only objective.

Braves’ announcer stole the show with just 2-words on Jesse Chavez’ BALK

Unlike other instances, the announcer did not describe this incident with much words, yet his emotions were able to categorize the moment hilariously. To be precise, ‘Oh’ and ‘Lord’ we’re the only two words which were necessary as the egregious move by Chavez brought another run to the plate.

While a Balk is not anything out of the ordinary, it is pretty rare to witness one. Moreover, with the announcer signifying it in such perfect manner, sums up the night for Atlanta Braves’ fan base.

Trying to catch up against the Mets, the Braves would want to work up their way in terms of consistency. Given that they are multiple losses behind the New York Mets, they would be hoping to spring back to their best form as they lock horns against the depleted Washington Nationals in their next showdown.
