“2 Jewish ballplayers”: Joc Pederson and Max Fried to take shape in MLB All-Star game
Joc Pederson and Max Fried
Joc Pederson and Max Fried, two Jewish jocks to be a part of the MLB All-Star summer classic for the first time since a long period of time. The most Jewish players to bob up in the same All-Star game is three, which has happened twice: Mike Lieberthal, Brad Ausmus and Shawn Green in 1999, and Braun, Kevin Youkilis and Ian Kinsler in 2008.
The San Francisco Giants outfielder Pederson has a total of 17 homeruns this season and has been welcomed to the National League All-Star line-up. This is his second introduction to the team, first time being in 2015.
Whereas, Fried has been the Braves’ ace since at least the year prior. He was even voted 5th in the Cy Young Award but couldn’t play the All-Star game due to COVID-19 restrictions. This time around the left-handed starting pitcher making his first appearance in the game as a reserve.

Twitter reacts to the two impressive players as Joc Pederson and Max Fried embrace All-Star 2022
Pederson and Max have West Coast roots, and presumably will have lots of family in attendance at the game, which will be played on July 19 at Dodger Stadium. Both the jocks have been enjoying their 2022 MLB season.
30-year-old Pederson is batting a career-high .259 with an on-base-plus-slugging percentage (OPS) 72 points above his career average. The lefty slugger came close to winning the home run derby in 2019.
Alex Pavlovic tweeted, “Joc Pederson was voted in as an All-Star starter. He’s the first Giants outfielder to get voted in since Melky Cabrera in 2012 and their first All-Star outfielder since Hunter Pence in 2014. He’ll join Ronald Acuña Jr. and Mookie Betts in the NL outfield.”

28-year-old Fried (9-2 with a 2.52 ERA entering Tuesday’s start) is sporting a career-best 1.025 WHIP (that’s walks plus hits divided by innings pitched). While he’s striking out the same number of batters as previous seasons, he’s walking fewer batters.
Eric Sondheimer tweeted, “Max Fried of the Braves getting to pitch in the All-Star game at Dodger Stadium on the mound he worshipped (Sandy Koufax was his idol) is going to be so good.”
