“Time expected to be up” Joey Gallo’ struggles cause Yankees to explore options with Brewers and Padres

Joey Gallo

Joey Gallo is a New York Yankee left fielder who would not want to be the same after the trade deadline ends on August 2nd, Tuesday. The organization acquired a new left-handed outfielder last week in Andrew Benintendi, which would have made Joey realise that his time playing in the pinstripes in over.

Joey Gallo and New York Yankees are looking for a new jersey for him to dawn as his tenure at the franchise appears imminent to be over. Gallo is hitting .159/.282/.339 with 12 home runs this season, he was once a player who started as an outfielder but gradually, he has received a place outside Bronx.

“Every time I see a Yankees hat, every time I see a Yankees jersey, it’s something I’m going to have to understand,” Joey Gallo said at Yankee Stadium on Thursday. “I didn’t play well as a Yankee. I wish I had.”

Although Joey Gallo’s future is yet to be determined, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres and Tampa Bay Rays seem to be interested in the 2-time Gold Glove Awardee (2020, 2021).

Joey Gallo has played 139 games for the Yankees over the last calendar year, he has hit .159/.291/.368 for a .660 OPS, a significant dip from the .833 OPS he had in seven years with the Rangers while hitting .211/.336/.497 for them.

“When I see my numbers, I feel like I’ve played better than that,” Joey Gallo said. “There are a couple of things mechanically that I think I could have been better about monitoring. Baseball is a weird game.”

Gallo added, “You can be doing something slightly wrong, and in baseball you just start doing it every day, and it starts to become a habit you don’t notice. I just feel like something here got out of rhythm, out of whack.”

For a potential trade, Milwaukee Brewers would be looking for a low-level prospect exchange to bring in Joey Gallo as he would serve as a bench option with an ability to spot start with the record he has at the moment. Gallo is a free agent after the 2022 season and is earning $10.28 million with the New York Yankees.
