Jose Altuve, the Venezuelan second baseman is an 8-time All-Star with the Houston Astros. Recently, A lifelong Astros fan who won the battle against cancer was asked if she would like to ring a bell signaling the end of her treatment but she had a dream in her mind which she wanted to fulfil. The MLB fan raced over to a sporting goods store, was the first in line and had to wait 36 hours outside the store before finally meeting Altuve.
The MLB fan expressed that she did not wish to leave Jose Altuve when he hugged her as none can match the stature of Altuve in a Houston Astros jersey. Fan Liza Valverde and her grandmother consider Jose Cruz and Nolan Ryan as their favorite players other than Altuve.
“That was way better than ringing a bell,” she said, “It was something I’m never going to forget, that’s why I beat cancer, so I can be here.”
“It’s been a tough year,” MLB Astros fan added. “It’s been an up-and-down battle. I had other things happen. I got laid off from my job and didn’t have health insurance. It was rough, but I got through it and I’m here. Best moment of my life right here.”

“What can I say?” Jose Altuve said. “I’m obviously happy for her that she’s supposed to ring the bell. That’s a good thing, obviously, in her life. The fact that she didn’t go and came here makes me feel so good. I was a little emotional when she told me that. What can I say? I’m really happy we can make people happy like the whole team did this year.”
In 2014, he became the first player in over 80 years to reach 130 hits and 40 stolen bases before the All-Star Game. Jose Altuve went on to win the Associated Press Athlete of the Year in the Houston Astros jersey in 2017.
Jose Altuve is currently the shortest active player in the Major League Baseball and is all-set to start for the Venezuelan team in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. The MLB fan mentioned that she would frame the jersey Jose Altuve signed for her. It was the best end she could have to her year-long battle and the start she needed a cancer-free life.
