The Mariners signed Julio Rodriguez as an international free agent at the age of 16. After playing in the minors for about five years, he received the call to join the majors. At the time of his inclusion to the roster, the young superstar was No.1 on the prospect list for Seattle and No.2 on the MLB list.

Rodriguez had the perfect start to his MLB career as he won the AL Rookie of the Year award in 2022. In his magical campaign, Rodriguez had .284/.345/.509 with 28 home runs and 75 RBI. For his exceptional performance, he also won the Silver Slugger Award.

Fans completely lost their mind at the 22-year-old smashing records and creating history in just his second season in the major league. While Rodriguez is in elite company with Fernando Tatis Jr., the Padres’ shortstop was suspended last season for using performance-enhancing drugs. Many fans believed that the PEDs were the reason why Tatis Jr. was able to create history and become the fastest player to reach 40 HR and 40 SB in MLB history.

Julio Rodriguez or “J-Rod” is everything the Mariners could hope for in a player and the young slugger is definitely pulling his weight for his team. After a slow start to the 2023 season, the Mariners now have a .500 winning percentage and are on the road to playoffs.

The Mariners will now go on to face the Yankees starting Tuesday and let’s hope that the rising superstar delivers another electrifying performance against 39-33 Yankees.
