“The day I put the Dodgers uniform on”- WS Champion Justin Turner crowned with 2022 Robert Clemente Award

Los Angeles Dodgers baseman, Justin Turner won MLB’s 2022 Robert Clemente Award for his philanthropic efforts this year. The Californian native has been quite active with his philanthropic efforts, trying hard to give back something valuable to his community.
He’s been with the Dodgers for the last nine seasons, earning titles and awards to his name to date. He became the World Series champion in 2020 and is a 2-time All-Star winner in 2017 and 2021. Justin has been the nominee for the award in 5 of the past 6 seasons.
With his current Robert Clemente Award win, he joined the former MLB player Steve Garvey who won the award back in 1981, and Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw in 2012. Prior to Monday’s Game 3, Justin will be honored along with the Clemente family and MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred.

Monday’s Game 3 will be starting between the Houston Astros and the Philadelphia Phillies. Regarding Justin Turner’s latest accomplishment, he noted, “Everything in my life really feels like it has taken off since the day I put the Dodger uniform on”.
“Obviously, it’s very special to me, growing up in Southern California, getting to wear that jersey and getting to be a part of an organization that has so much history and has so many people who have impacted the game in so many different ways. I’m just trying to do my little part.”
Apart from giving back to his community, he also founded the Justin Turner Foundation. His wife also played a crucial role in the foundation, in 2016. The motto of the foundation is to, “support homeless veterans, children and families battling life-altering diseases and illnesses.”
Justin Turner is an active socialist, who has donated large sums of money to various organizations like Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where they donated $100,000, while additionally providing children with toys and bicycles. His career took a 180-degree turnover after penning a contract with the Dodgers as a free agent in 2014.
He won most of his prizes while playing for the organization, as Justin proudly stated, “Everything in my life really feels like it has taken off since the day I put the Dodger uniform on”.
