On Friday night, announcer Kevin Brown made his majestic return to the booth. This came after he was surprisingly suspended by the Baltimore Orioles earlier this week. The MASN play-by-play commentator was suspended by the team for revealing the team’s recent struggles during their matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Fans and everyone else related to baseball were left stunned when the O’s management announced this strange exclusion. Brown was simply fired for stating the facts about the team, a move that caused a huge uproar among the MLB community. Several big names stood out in his support. Brown has now issued a statement on his recent suspension.
The commentator took to his Twitter account and wrote a lengthy message to the fans. In this statement, he told the fans that he is a storyteller and does not want to become a part of the story. His sudden removal saw the O’s fans use the chants of “Free Kevin Brown” during their recent home games.
He further emphasized how his relationship with the team had not been broken. “I have a wonderful relationship with the organization, and our ownership and front office have fully supported me since 2019 when I first came aboard,” he mentioned.

There have often been times where incidents of commentators, announcers, and broadcasters have been removed for using some offensive terms. While there could be a slip-of-tongue, these usually result in immediate removal. However, the reason Brown was suspended was nothing short of strange. He was removed for simply giving the factual information regarding the team’s recent record against the Tampa Bay Rays.
This move by the Orioles saw several broadcasters across the US come to the aid of Brown. Renowned names like Michael Kay and Gary Cohen slammed the organization on air for this development. “They should suspend the doofus who suspend Brown,” SNY’ Al Michaels said in his statement.
“It’s a horrendous decision by the Orioles,” Cohen said in Brown’s defense. The organization denied to offer any comments regarding the matter. This comes at a time when the team is having one of their best seasons. They are currently 71-45, two games ahead of the Rays in the AL East standings. This has given the young team a major chance to clinch the division title for the first time since 2014.
