“What a nasty pitch”: Kody Clemens jubilant after receiving autographed ball from Superstar Shohei Ohtani

Kody Clemens might fall out from catching his father Roger Clemens with respect to career strikeouts, but in the Tigers’ 10-0 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night in Anaheim, Calif, Kody was able to deliver a special strikeout in the form of Shohei Ohtani.
Kody Clemens was pumping his hands in the air because his 68mph pitch froze last year’s American League MVP. The son of seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens kept the ball instantly as he knew the actual value of that ball.
“I’m just trying to get outs, and for it to come like that is obviously super cool,” Kody Clemens said after the game. “He’s the best player in baseball. So, it’s a pretty cool moment for me.”
“He handled that really well,” said Hinch of Shohei Ohtani, who came into that at-bat against Kody Clemens having clubbed a pair of homers in the game. “That was definitely the lightest moment of the day and probably a big memory for Kody. Maybe not as big a memory for Shohei, but what a great sport.”

Kody Clemens first career strikeout left him overwhelmed

“[We] were talking in the dugout. I was like, ‘I’m probably going to face Shohei in the eighth, or whatever,’” Kody Clemens explained. “I was just throwing it in there, and I got to two strikes. I was like, ‘Oh my god, this might happen. Who knows?’ And I threw it 60-whatever miles an hour, and luckily, he took it.”
Kody Clemens serves as both infielder and outfielder for the Detroit Tigers. He was selected by the Tigers with the 79th overall pick of the 2018 MLB draft. He also received a $600,000 signing bonus[9] and made his professional debut with the West Michigan Whitecaps of the Class A Midwest League.
On June 25th, 2022, Clemens hit a three-run, go-ahead home run versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. This was his first home run in his career.[18] Clemens was optioned back down to Toledo on July 12[19] but recalled on July 21.
