“Once in a lifetime moment” Athletics legend recalls heartwarming moment meeting Queen Elizabeth II with Three Stooges routine

It is safe to say that the world is mourning the loss of Queen Elizabeth II, Oakland Athletics legend Dave Steward decided to recall his staggering instance where he not only let her but also Prince Philip in May 1991. The Royals were present with then President H.W.Bush and Barbara Bush.
Queen Elizabeth II made rare appearances in front of the media yet at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore, as part of a 2-week tour, she shook hands with all the players in the dugout before the Orioles vs Athletics showdown. Moreover, the Queen also waved out to all fans who waited eagerly to catch sight of her.
When the occasion was so auspicious, Dave Stewart could not help himself in trying to leave a ping impression on Queen Elizabeth II, when his chance came.

Dave Stewart decided to crack up Queen Elizabeth II

“I remember like it was yesterday. We were all lined up to meet her in that procession,” recalls Stewart. “So Three Stooges was one of my favorite comedies. … So when she passed (inline), I did like a Three Stooges thing: ‘Queenie, nyuk nyuk.’ She laughed. Well, cracked a smile. … Put it like that. The rest of the team was cracking up.”
He concluded, “It was cool for me. I’m sure it was for everybody too, but I had to go act like a god-dang fool.”
That being the world seems to still not come to terms as Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Thursday at Balmoral Castle, at the age of 96. To those who are not aware, she was the longest-serving queen – reigning for 70 years. She came to the throne in 1952 and led enormous social changes.
Senior royals had gathered at Balmoral after the Queen’s doctors became concerned about her health earlier in the day. Lastly, Queen Elizabeth II’s reign spanned 15 prime ministers starting with Winston Churchill, born in 1874, and including Ms. Truss, born 101 years later in 1975.
