“This sh*t should be illegal” Max Scherzer speculates PitchCom ought to be outlawed
Max Scherzer
Max Scherzer came out of an amazing 38th birthday performance where to would battle it out with the league’s MVP contender Aaron Judge, Max, The Mets ace struck him out on nothing but off-speed pitches. He surely has a say on Major League Baseball’s new introduction, called the PitchCom.
With many sign stealing scandals rising, Major League Baseball has started using electronics to relay signs from catcher to pitcher and vice versa also known as the PitchCom. Max Scherzer had the opportunity to wear the PitchCom, upon which he felt that this takes out a natural part of the game.
According to Max Scherzer stealing signs is a part of the game and with PitchCom that particular natural flow just goes down the drain. He has a few words with respect to the new electronic device, “Here’s what I’ll say on PitchCom” (via Newsday). “It works. Does it help? Yes, but I also think it should be illegal. I don’t think it should be in the game. Stealing signs is part of the game.

Max Scherzer has an inclination towards banning the PitchCom
Max Scherzer added, “For me, I’ve always taken pride in having a complex system of signs and having that advantage over other pitchers.” He was uncertain about using the device in the future but also slightly indicated that he might try it again as the manager insists upon it.
Mad Max Scherzer continued, “The fact that we’re taking this out of the game and we’re putting in technology, now you can’t steal signs on second, the pitcher can’t have an advantage of having a complex system. It’s part of baseball, trying to crack someone’s signs.”
Here is how the PitchCom works, It uses a sleeve that the catcher has to wear to get the signs to the pitcher, possibly up to three fielders via an earpiece. The PitchCom sleeve has buttons on it, which means there is obviously one button per pitch and then once the catcher pushes it, everyone wearing the earpiece hears either the pitch name (“slider”) or a code word they’ve assigned for each pitch.
