Michael Conforto is an American professional baseball player who plays as a free agent. He assumes the position of the outfielder and is often called by his nickname “Scooter”. The New York Mets of the Major League Baseball selected him in the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft as the 10th overall pickup. Before the Mets, he played with the Oregon State Beavers. Michael made his MLB debut in  2015.

During his amateur hockey year, he represented the Northwest Region in the Little League World Series in 2004. He played both football and baseball during his high school days as a shortstop, quarterback, and safety respectively. In 2012, he hit 13 home runs, and 76 runs batted in, over 58 games at the Oregon State University. Prior to his professional career, Michael Conforto was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year and was also awarded the first-team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association. He ended the 2013 season with7 home runs and 56 RBIs in 59 games. He got his second Pac-12 name during this time. He was also the finalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and Golden Spikes Award. Finally, in the 2014 MLB Draft, the New York Mets signed up Michael in the first round as the 10th overall. 

On July 12, 2015, he participated as the left outfielder for the United States Team at the All-Star Futures Game and achieved 2 hits and 1 assist. He was later promoted to the major leagues where he made his first major league RBI by going 0-3 while becoming the 1000th Mets player to appear in a game. Michael ended the season with 9 home runs in 56 games played. The team won the 2015 National League Pennant.

Michael became the first rookie to homer twice in a World Series by hitting 2 homers in Game 4 of the 2015 World Series. He was later selected for the 2017 MLB All-Star Game in Miami. In May 2019 Michael Conforto had his first major league grand slam against the Los Angeles Dodgers while finishing the season with 33 career-highs in home runs and 92 RBIs. Though he got the qualifying letter from the Mets he declined it and chose the road to be a free agent.
