As the MLB postseason begins, fans have started to gather at stadiums in huge numbers to support their teams. Those unable to catch the action live inside the ballpark, have turned to the classic option of broadcast. However, the fans of the Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins have shown their displeasure now. The reason for it? – the KayRod cast is announcing it.
The KayRod cast consists of long-time New York Yankees announcer Michael Kay and former MLB star Alex Rodriguez. This duo is calling the matches between the Twins and Blue Jays. A reason for their hatred among fans has been because of the ties the two experts have with the Yankees. The Twins and the Blue Jays both have rivalries with the New York-based side.
Despite the criticism faced by many, the duo was able to call the game without interruption. Whether the fans enjoyed that broadcast was another topic of discussion. Speaking of the matchup, the Twins ended a long 18-game playoff losing streak. Their last one in the postseason came nearly two decades ago when they won on October 5, 2004.
Since then the Twins were just unable to win knockout matches. On several occasions they were swept by the Yankees, thus marking another reason why the fans were unhappy with the duo of KayRod cast. Royce Lewis stole the show as he hit two home runs during his first two at-bats. This would earn a crucial 3-1 win and see the AL Central champions take a 1-0 lead.

The KayRod cast has received several criticism from the fans. Users on social media have called out the duo for their “Yankees bias”. The duo would clarify this at the start of the season. It was, however, clear though that the fans had not taken their words seriously and were against them from calling the series.
When the announcers for the series were announced, some took a sigh of relief as this duo was not selected for their team’s matchup. How will Rodriguez and Kay get the fanbase on their side remains to be seen. With the postseason schedule wide open, these two could appear in more games which could see even more reactions from the MLB faithful. The Twins on the other hand could punch their ticket to ALDS with a victory tonight and send the Blue Jays packing home.
