The Oakland Athletics fans are seemingly disappointed with the owners of the team. Their frustration has been highly aggravated after a challenging MLB period and owner John Fisher’s plans to move the team to Las Vegas. This has resulted in several fans protesting and criticizing the franchise’s ownership.
On Friday, the match against the Cincinnati Reds saw several fans turning up in large numbers, holding placards criticizing the ownership. However, MLB cropping the placards which read “KAVAL=LIAR,” “SELL,” and “FISHER OUT” has met much anger and frustration from the fans.
While these signs and placards were visible on NBC Sports California broadcast, MLB’s media team seemed to have cropped them out when the video was put on the official MLB website. The shot of the ball landing was seemingly edited, and this move has received strong criticism from fans on Twitter.
MLB denies all knowledge of editing Noda’s homerun and the signs in Oakland Athletics’ game against the Reds

The Oakland Athletics have been in very poor form this season, losing the game against the Cincinnati Reds 11-7 and currently standing 5-22 on the season charts. This is the A’s worst record in MLB, which explains the scathing criticism and frustration of the fans toward the owners.
Fans have accused MLB of being ‘totalitarian’ and censoring the video to protect Fisher’s interest in the franchise. However, an official spokesperson of the MLB has commented further on this issue. As the Athletic reports, the league denies any knowledge of the edit in the video and says, “We were unaware of the edit. “When it came to our attention, we corrected it as it isn’t consistent with our policy.”
It can be noted that over the past two years, the face of Oakland Athletics has wholly turned around under John Fisher. The A’s were frequent in the playoffs, last featuring continuously from 2018 to 2020. However, the team is considered seemingly unsuccessful in the league under Fisher’s management.
The Athletics also have the lowest payroll for their players in MLB. This has made fans stand against the ownership and the management for their various controversial actions. One of the most scathing ownership plans is to shift the team from Oakland to Las Vegas. This is one move that the fans are completely against. Many fans argue about taking away a historical element of Oakland if the plans of shifting to Vegas are eventually finalized.
