“Hey homie”- Mookie Betts shares fun story on Nelly popping up at 2 a.m. to his place
Mookie Betts and Nelly
Having some pretty well-known buddies in Hollywood is usually a perk of being the Los Angeles Dodgers star. Ask Mookie Betts, please. The outfielder for the Dodgers was questioned about some of his most well-known local buddies while being mic’d up for Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN this past weekend.
Betts was hesitant to go into detail about it, but he did say that Nelly is one celebrity that frequently shows up at his house at two in the morning. “One of my good friends, since I came out here, has been Nelly,”

Betts said. “…Nelly, he comes over to the house at 2 o’clock in the morning. We shoot pool. He’s a competitor.” But why so late? “That’s when his day starts,” Betts said. “You stay up and I just take my nap at the field.”
Although the Dodgers star has not faced him one-on-one, Betts also claimed that NBA star Chris Paul is his neighbor and that the two are close friends. “We have bowled and that didn’t end too well for him,” Betts added.
Betts predicted that Paul would accept his offer to play basketball with him if it came up, only to test his mettle. “He’s 38, something like that?” Betts said. “I don’t think that really matters but maybe I could run around him a bit. Probably not.”
