Mookie Betts hits his 200th career home run and displayed his extraordinary talent in the series opener on Thursday. After a full and healthy recovery from a shattered rib, he’s back again with a blast, with 5 home runs in July and a record seven hits in the last eight games.

 Turner, Freeman, and Betts all blasted solo home runs, putting that on full show. In the third inning, Mookie Betts and Turner each scored once to get the game started. In the seventh, Freeman added an insurance run to give the Dodgers a four-run lead. As they defeated the San Francisco Giants for their seventh straight win.

“Our lineup feeds off those guys,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. “Certainly having those guys get on base, slugging, scoring runs, running deep counts. It just has an exponential effect on the rest of the guys and it’s really taxing for the opposition. Seeing those guys play the way they are, obviously, as they go, we go.”

Three of the top players in the Majors are Betts, Turner, and Freeman. The trio has won a batting title, two MVP Awards, and made a total of 14 All-Star appearances. And for what seems to be the first time this season, all three of them are heating up at once, putting the opposition pitchers under constant pressure.

“I couldn’t have asked for better teammates for keeping me going,” Betts said. “They believe in me and that’s all I can really ask for. I know I’m going to play every day and I just have to do my best.”

The Dodgers are beginning to resemble the club that was anticipated to be the best in the league after months of declaring their best baseball was yet to come. They have won seven straight games and moved to 16-2 in July thanks to their superstars. On Sunday, they’ll attempt the four-game sweep. To add the cherry on the top Freeman adds “I think that’s what you guys have been talking about since March,”
