The Philadephia Phillies seem to be unstoppable at the moment. After cruising away in the wild-card series, they would once again eliminate the Atlanta Braves. The Braves who dominated the entire regular season were unable to answer back the Phillies. They once again were at the height of their power as they took down the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-3. In this game, Nick Castellanos and Kyle Schwarber created postseason history.

Castellanos has been on the rise since joining the Phillies. He recently talked about how much he had settled with the team while dropping a huge “f—” bomb in a postgame interview. He once again showed off his powers as he slammed a solo home run, the third of the night as the Phillies won the first game of this best-of-seven series 5-3.

After Schwarber and birthday boy Bryce Harper had put the Phillies 2-0 up in the first, Castellanos decided to join the part. The 31-year-old solo shot against D-Backs ace Zac Gallen made it a 3-0 game in the second inning itself. After hitting this home run, the Phillies hitter found himself in the history books.

He joined Hall of Famer, Reggie Jackson, as the second player to hit five home runs in a three-game span. His two multi-hr games in Game 3 and 4 of the NLDS and this game saw him tie this record. For this clutch performance, Jackson was nicknamed “Mr. October”. Could Castellanos be the new “Mr. October” for the Phillies, remains to be seen.

What did Kyle Schwarber do to make MLB postseason history?

Kyle Schwarber has been known across the MLB for his tremendous power. While he may lack the speed to run around the bases, he hits moonshots whenever he mostly connects well with the ball. In the regular season, he finished with a batting average of .197. In this, he hit 47 home runs as well. So it makes sense that he does not hustle around the bases too much but what did he do to make MLB postseason history?

In the very first pitch of the Phillies batting, Schwarber launched a 420-foot home run of Zac Gallen. This gave his lead an early lead in the first inning. It was also his first home run of this postseason. He though became the player with the most lead-off home runs in postseason history surpassing the likes of great Jimmy Rollins and Derek Jeter.

This turned out to be his fourth lead-off postseason home run, one more than Rollins and Jeter. This lead-off home run gives the team a chance to build upon it and lay down the foundation for an important victory.

The Phillie fans would be hoping Schwarber could continue to deliver important home runs like this as they aim to go one better than last time out. With momentum on their side, the D-Backs will need a much-improved effort from their bullpen to contain the red-host Phillies in this series.
