Nike’s recently released on-field Vapor Premier jerseys get bashed by MLB fans online as some label it “cheap”. Among the 300 players who tested on the clothing, some are not happy about their fit. It was revealed that this jersey is to be worn by all 30 teams across the league, but even before the 2024 season began, it received harsh backlash.

The jersey is to be worn by players as they head into Spring training. The 9 teams who will be donning the Nike MLB City Connect uniforms are – Cleveland Guardians, Detroit Tigers, LA Dodgers, NY Mets, St.Loius Cardinals, Minnesota Twins, Philadelphia Phillies, Tampa Bay Rays, and Toronto Blue Jays.

While some players were disgruntled with their uniforms, there were also baseballers who provided positive reviews. Among them, Cardinals pitcher Miles Mikolas commented, “I don’t like them. Everyone should write about it,” as per Post-Dispatch’s Derrick Goold

He also stated that the fit wasn’t right and said it looked “cheap” at the spring training clubhouse. Braves, Ronald Acuna Jr, on the other hand complimented the jersey stating, “These uniforms fit better and feel lighter.” Cardinals Noland Arenado also commented, “It’s almost like wearing my favorite shirt out on the field.”

Fans heavily dissatisfied with Nike’s 2024 Vapor Premier series

Although Nike and MLB have worked with Fanatics since 2020 for team jerseys, this time around all the designs and jersey programs were drawn by Nike. Prior to the clothing release, Nike even scanned 300 baseball players to get the ideal fit which would’ve been a more athletic and form-fitting style than the prior chassis used.

Unfortunately, it failed to meet fan’s expectations, as they ragged on X (formerly known as X). One X user noted, “Don’t pi** on us and tell us it’s rain. You cut corners putting out a worse product for more money, all in the name of profit margins.” While another noted, “Wow! Looks cheap and flimsy, much like Fanatics itself!”

The Nike Vapor Premier jerseys did not live up to the mark for fans but got accepted by various players. The 2024 season finally begins as players head into spring training sessions. Another exciting MLB year is beginning!
