Just when things start to look get better for the New York Yankees, they find a way to lose. There has no hiding for the New York side as they continue to delve into poor form. This time another poor display from the field saw them drop a game, which they were leading. The Miami Marlins rallied late on to come out victorious with an 8-7 scoreline.
After winning the first game of the series by a score of 9-4, the Yankees dropped the second game. This made the third game between the duo the rubber game. At one stage of the game, the AL East side was leading by six runs. However, as seen many times this season now, the team imploded once again.
Pitcher Gerrit Cole was seen frustrated by his manager Aaron Boone after being pulled out of the game. At the time of Cole’s exit, the Yankees were leading 7-2 as he had just surrendered his second run. Things went out of their hand in the bottom of the ninth inning despite having a four-run lead. With the bases loaded and facing an 0-2 pitch, Josh Bell hit a tapper right back to the mound. Yankees relief pitcher Clay Holmes made a throwing error sending the ball high above the first base. This allowed two runs to be scored.
Their man in form Luis Arraez later hit a double down the right-field line. This shot tied the game as two runners came in. The winning shot came off the bat of Jake Burger who walked it off on the pitch through Tommy Kahnle. This helped the Marlins to an important win in their bid for a playoff spot.

This has now become a theme for the Yankees this season. They will either start off good and then find a way to lose their grip or not get into the action at all. At times this season, both their offense and defense have struggled. The team has simply failed to get together as a whole unit.
“This one sucks right here, especially with the lead we had and the at-bats we had, but we gotta show up,” Aaron Judge said about the performance. The NY side now boost a record of 16-9 when Gerrit Cole starts from the mound. Twitter was once again furious and decide to call out the team following another poor outing.
The Yankees will now be hoping to mount a comeback. However, things do not get easy for them as they face off the league’ best in the form of Atlanta Braves. A three-game series with them will be followed by a series against arch-rivals Boston Red Sox. They will need to find a way to come together as a team if they want to turn things around quickly.
