The flourishing growth Cruz had picked up after getting called up on June 20th, has been a fixture in the Pirates line-up. Now that must be agitating for the Los Angeles Dodgers as they do not generally end up on the losing side of trade.

On Sunday, the 6’7” Oneil Cruz reminded everyone why he is considered enterprising star. In his first at-bat against NL Cy Young favorite Sandy Alcantara, Cruz nearly left the yard with a massive home run to right field at PNC Park.

“We want to win,” Greg Allen said. “Regardless of how close we were, we didn’t win today. There’s only one emotion that we feel about that and that’s probably frustrated we weren’t able to come out on the other side of that. Sure, you can look at some positives. That’s definitely what we’ll take away, the positives of being able to battle back. … But at the end of the day, we fell short. That’s really all that matters.”
The Los Angeles Dodgers must have been watching Oneil Cruz like a hawk, as they could only get a three-month rental skill out of Watson, traded to the Giants after 2017. On the other hand, Cruz is proving to be a future multi-time All-Star.
The 23-year-old Cruz has the potential to be a five-tool stud for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 460 minor league games, the towering shortstop with a cannon arm slashed .275/.341/.458. “Whatever’s going to get broken is going to get broken,” said Oneil Cruz when impressed the Major League fans playing for the Pirates.
