MLB reporter Kelsey Wingert was covering a game between the Colorado Rockies and the San Francisco Giants when she was hit by a 95 mph ball in her head. She required both internal and external stitches and said that it wasn’t her first time getting struck by a baseball. The incident took place during the 9th inning of the game between both teams on Monday. Reportedly Wingert was sitting near the first-base camera when the ball struck her head.

Wingert was immediately taken to the hospital and received medical attention. On Thursday she shared an update on her condition and explained the treatment she received and further needed to get completely fit. A CT scan was taken along with a few other necessary medical steps, but thankfully nothing concerning was found. She further told her followers that she needed 5 hours of treatment at the hospital.

Kelsey Wingert later shared a Twitter post to keep her followers updated, and mentioned, “I had [a] CT scan to check for internal bleeding/fractures and it came back clear, Thank God”.

She was hit by a foul off bat while she was sitting in front of the first-base camera by Giants player Austin Slater in the 9th inning, as noted on news.sky.com. Incidentally, she was also hit by a foul ball in 2018 while covering the game of the Atlanta Braves for Fox Sports South. Wingert suffered a broken right eye socket from the ball hit by Odubel Herrera of the Philadelphia Phillies.
