“Beast mode slide”- Ronald Acuna Jr.’s majestic slide leaves fans in awe
Ronald Acuna Jr
Ronald Acuna Jr.’s incredible slide into home plate in the 11th inning gave the Braves a two-run advantage and stunned the baseball world. The throw beat Acuna, but he managed to sneak a hand in on the other side of the plate to avoid the tag from Kevin Plawecki. It simply appeared to be a fantastic individual effort from one of baseball’s most talented players in real time.
But even Acuna would concede that the presentation included a plethora of additional details. Just take a look at Harris, who on the play acted as a player-coach by positioning himself in Acuna’s line of sight to tell him just where to slide. Acuna gave Harris II credit for pointing to the inside of the plate after the game because, after all, Harris could see the ball’s direction whereas Acuna could not.
That situational awareness, which was required to make that highlight-reel play feasible, is not something you see in too many rookies. Many Brave admirers also took notice of it.
