The buzz around baseball superstar Shohei Ohtani continues. The Los Angeles Dodgers star is currently the most talked about athlete in the world due to his massive $700 million deal. As he awaits for the new MLB season to kick off, Ohtani was spotted in Los Angeles attending a Thursday Night Football game of the NFL.

The Japanese superstar was in attendance for the game between the Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints. His presence in the stadium was well received by the fans who cheered him on. Before the game, he also received a personalized jersey from the home team with his ‘No.17‘ printed on it.

Earlier in the evening, Ohtani was spotted on the sidelines having a conversation with the Rams players and their mascot, Rampage. He would also pick up the football and try to get a grip on it. The way he has played in MLB before, very few would be surprised to see him excel in football and become a top NFL star.

After the pregame festivities, the 29-year-old headed up to his suite. He was seen donning the Rams jersey beneath a leather jacket while cheering on for the home team.

Shohei Ohtani named AP Male Athlete of the Year

The year 2023 saw Shohei Ohtani at his very best as he impressed everyone once again. The two-way star once again excelled in the pitching and batting department for the Los Angeles Angels. For his efforts throughout the season, he has now been named the AP Male Athlete of the Year for the second time.

This victory saw him beat out the likes of Tennis great Novak Djokovic and soccer legend Lionel Messi. The honor voted by a panel of sports media professionals saw Ohtani collect 20 of the 87 votes. Djokovic and Messi both gained 16 votes each.

Djokovic and Messi both enjoyed great individual seasons. While the tennis star won three grand slams this year and claimed seven titles, Messi led Argentina to ultimate glory in Qatar as they won the FIFA World Cup in 2022. This win saw the Argentine international win a record-breaking eighth Ballon d’Or award.

Ohtani previously won this award in 2021 when he was unanimously named the American League MVP. This year he repeated this feat and won the award again. To top it off, Ohtani also won the Edgar Martinez Outstanding DH of the Year and the AL Hank Aaron Award. This all came after he emerged victorious with his national team during the World Baseball Classic in 2023.
