The legend of Shohei Ohtani continues to add new chapters and tales to his mesmerizing career. While rumors and speculations involving his future increase day by day, Ohtani himself continues to find ways to amaze people. On Monday he did something which nobody would have thought so. He managed to hit a two-run game-tying home run against the NY Yankees. The Japanese superstar would go on to “flip the bat” after the shot.

Bat flips have been a subject of topic in the past few years. A hitter is said to have attempted a bat flip after they throw the bat in the air. The bat rotates in the air for a while before dropping down. This is usually done by batters to “show off”. The Angels star man is considered by many as a humble guy, so this gesture by him surprised a few individuals.

The incident happened in the seventh inning with the hosts 3-1 down. Ohtani was probably still upset for being intentionally walked early on. In the form he is in right now, any pitcher would like to avoid pitching him. This turned out to be his 35th home run of the season. He has already matched his last season’s tally with more than two months of action to go.

Ohtani came up to bat again in the ninth but was unable to walk it off. The Angels did walk off in the bottom of the tenth inning to grab their second walk-off win in space of three days.

NY Yankees suffer second consecutive extra innings walk-off loss

Another day, another loss for the New York Yankees. In other news the sky is blue. No matter what the Yankees do, they just find a way to give up the games. For a second straight day, the NY side suffered an extra-innings walk-off lose. The Yankees are not just losing, they are losing and making the same mistakes in a particular manner.

On Sunday against the Rockies, they gave up a two-run lead twice. Once again they had a two-run lead. This time they came against a monster in the form of Ohtani. Yankees pitcher Nick Ramirez once again became the unlucky guy to have the loss against his name. He was able to manage to get two outs. With the automatic runner Chad Wallach on second, he gave a hit to Michael Stefanic and managed to hit a line drive down the left to walk it off.

As a result of this crushing defeat, the Yankees are in sole possession of late place in the American League East standings. This is the first time since 1990 that they have been bottom of the table this late in a season. The Yankees have a huge task in their hands in order to salvage their barren season.
