“History is made”- Shohei Ohtani becomes first player to hit 30 hrs and 10 wins in the same season

Shohei Ohtani
Los Angeles Angels may not have anything to play for going into September. But Angels’ star. Shohei Ohtani embarks yet another remarkable season. Including doing an action that has never been seen in MLB before. Shohei Ohtani became the first player to ever hit 30 home runs and accumulate 10 pitching victories in the same season when he launched his 30th home run of the year on Wednesday night.
The 28-year-old is once again a contender for AL MVP thanks to this spectacular season. Shohei Ohtani tied for third in the AL with 30 home runs. This season, the defending AL MVP has continued to hit the ball hard. With a maximum exit velocity of 119.1, he ranks second in MLB. With a barrels per plate appearance percentage of 11.1 he ranks sixth. On the mound, he is also having the best season of his career.
Ohtani has a 2.67 ERA in 128.0 innings pitched while striking out 176 batters. Shohei Ohtani leads MLB in K/9 with 12.4, despite the fact that he is currently ineligible for pitching statistics. Despite playing such a long season, the two-way machine still shows no signs of slowing down. Despite the Angles having another poor season, his continuing domination on the mound keeps him in the running for MVP.

Shohei Ohtani may steal the MVP award from Aaron Judge

Most of the season, Aaron Judge has been the hot favourite to earn AL MVP. But because of his pitching prowess, Ohtani keeps drawing closer. It would not be much of a contest if Judge and Ohtani were just compared as hitters. With a batting average of.296 and 51 home runs, Judge has already scored 113 runs. Additionally, with one month left in the season, Judge has a remarkable 7.8 WAR. While Ohtani’s WAR would be 7.4 if you added his pitching and batting WAR together.
Judge is inching closer to Roger Maris’ AL home run record of 61 with one month left in the season. To surpass Ohtani, that kind of epic season is required. Ohtani is behind in each of those statistics as well as the team’s win-loss record, which some voters consider. It gets problematic when we talk about “highest valued” in general. Ohtani defeated Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who had a fantastic season, to win the MVP award last year. Due to his versatility, Ohtani is unquestionably the “most valuable” player in the league. However, if that is the case, Ohtani will win the prize every season.
