It seems with every passing day, Shohei Ohtani continues to set new records. The two-way star is having another incredible season individually and he is all set to break further records. On Wednesday he scripted yet another milestone as he became the first player to have 40 home runs and 10 wins as a pitcher.
Ohtani’s abilities as a two-way player have made him a superstar. While offensively he stuns fans with his physical strength, he showcases his command over the ball with this pitching. As a result of his geniuses, he is the odds-on favorite for the American League MVP award. He though has been struggling with some injuries in the past few weeks and was seen visibly frustrated after the sixth inning against the SF Giants.
The 29-year-old exited the game against the Giants after pitching six innings. In this physical and fatigue outing, the Japanese star sensationally managed to pick up five strikeouts, three hits, and one unearned run. This marked his 10th win of the season as the LA Angels won the game 4-1. This marks the second straight season where he has managed to pick up 10 wins.
Shohei Ohtani continues to capture hearts of baseball fans through his excellent qualities
It is no surprise that Shohei Ohtani is a great player. The Los Angeles Angels talisman has transcended into superstardom with this awesome display as a professional baseball. Following his tenth win on Wednesday, he surpassed the legendary Babe Ruth in terms of multiple seasons with 10 or more wins and 40 or more home runs.
Ohtani though was unhappy with his own pitching effort. “I was pretty frustrated with the way I was pitching. I didn’t really feel right throughout the whole game,” he said through his translator after the game. While he might be displeased with his outing, Twitter was once again mesmerized by his performances. Here are a few reactions regarding this milestone by Ohtani.
Another thing that has been surrounding Ohtani this year has been his future. The player is set to hit free agency after his current deal runs out. The Angels had a chance to trade him during the trade deadline but removed him from the market.
Following this move, the Angels endured a barren run. The team would go on to lose seven games on the bounce following the expiration of the trade deadline. The sudden emergence of the Mariners has seen them fall way back in the standings and the wild card spot with a current 58-58 record.
