LA Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani target of reported bomb threat ahead of Seoul Series in South Korea

With hours left to go for the first official game of the 2024 season, a massive development from South Korea has emerged. Los Angeles Dodgers’ star Shohei Ohtani has been targeted of a bomb threat ahead of the Seoul Series.
As the Los Angeles Dodgers were gearing up for their Opening Day clash with the San Diego Padres, reports of a massive threat emerged, leaving the spectators in shock. As per reports from the Los Angeles Times, the South Korean police received a threat email on Wednesday morning.
The threat email claims of specifically hurting Shohei Ohtani and the other stars from both the teams. The police have since started their probe in this matter and have beefed up the security for the safety of the fans and the players at the Gocheok Sky Dome.
According to Yonhap News, no dangerous or suspicious activity has been found yet. Meanwhile a X user, Joseph Kim revealed the message of the threat email received to the police. As per Kim, the email in English threatens the usage of a high-performance bomb to hurt the players including Ohtani.
Further reports claimed that the email traced backs to Japan. The person who sent the email is alleged to have done this previously as well and claims himself to be a Japanese lawyer.
Dodgers-Padres game to be played as scheduled despite bomb threat
The news of a bomb threat against Shohei Ohtani and other MLB stars was something nobody thought they would be hearing just before a historic game. The Seoul Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres will mark the first time an MLB game will be played in South Korea.
The bomb threat news though threatened to postponed it. However, as per several reports, the game will not be delayed and will be played as per originally scheduled.
In a statement released by the league, MLB said:
The safety and security of our fans and everyone in the ballparks where we play are always our first priority. MLB, along with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and other local officials, will continue to monitor the situation closely and take any appropriate steps throughout the event.

The two Californian rivals will kick start the new season with this International series. A few days ago, the teams announced the starting pitchers for this games which saw Tyler Glasnow and Yu Darvish take center stage as Opening Day starters. After this two game series, the two NL West teams will travel back to US and resume their Spring training before the getting ready for regular season games.
