Watch: No. 11 Skye Bolt throwing up in the outfield, had “suspected sausage” for breakfast
Skye Bolt
Skye Bolt plays as an outfielder for the Oakland Athletics, he is known for his athletic abilities and cannon arm in the outfield but on Friday he couldn’t keep a clean slate as an outfielder. Out came his morning meal as he puked while in the bottom of the 7th inning during a game against the Houston Astros.
The A’s selected 28-years-old Skye Bolt in the fourth round of the 2015 MLB draft, and he made his MLB debut with them in 2019. Bolt showcased the summary of Oakland Athletics’ 2022 season, they hold a record of 42-71, an unsightly on-field moment reflected upon how dire things have gotten in Oakland.
The incident took place one pitch into the bottom of the seventh inning as the Athletic’s broadcasters were announcing defensive changes in the outfield: Skye Bolt in centerfield and Stephen Piscotty in left field. At that very moment the camera caught Bolt puking and feeling uneasy.
Skye Bolt goes from vomiting on the field to catching a 408-foot flyout by Kyle Tucker
Skye Bolt pinch-hit in the top of the inning and struck a two-run double. In fact, after puking on the field, minutes later, he ranged back to the warning track in center to catch a 408-foot flyout by Kyle Tucker. After the game, Bolt said the cause of his stomach distress could have been some “suspect sausage” consumed at breakfast.
“Right about BP is when the stomach started churning,” Skye Bolt said. “And then it was grindy, to say the least.” While he said he felt “on the mend” Friday night, he was not in the A’s lineup Saturday.

Manager Mark Kotsay said that even baseball players are human and their stomach can also act out without pre-planning, he said Skye was “OK” but “not sure if it’s a stomach flu or something he ate.”
Mark Kotsay said he could relate. “I threw up for a whole game in center field, Game 3 of the divisional playoffs in ’06 against Minnesota,” Kotsay said. “So, not uncommon for a center fielder with the Oakland A’s to puke.”
