One of the most important and traditional ceremonies in Major League Baseball (MLB) is the ceremonial first pitch. Teams usually invite big marquee names to throw out the first pitch of the game to gather audiences at the ballparks. In this recent trend, the New York Yankees invited renowned ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith. Unfortunately, things did not work out well for him as he “choked” the pitch.

Smith, 55, has been highly critical of baseball. He recently came under backlash from the community for his comments regarding Los Angeles Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani. In his show, First Take, he claimed that the Japanese star does not deserve a $500 million contract because he lacks star power. Following this slip-up, plenty of memes and trolls have been leveled against him. His own sister, Carmen, joined in on the act and had a laugh at him.

She would join Smith, along with Molly Qerim and Ryan Clark, at the First Take show. She would question him about his pitch and recall teaching him how to pitch. “Oh my god, Steve. Steve, I taught you better than that,” she said. Carmen would later add that she was left shocked by his actions and had to watch it all over again to confirm what had happened.

The conversation did not end there, as she claimed that Smith had a hotdog for lunch. She would hilariously claim that she thought he had some digestion problems while pitching. “I think that throw meant you had to pass gas or something. You lifted your legs up; you had bubble guts. You had bubble guts. I know you did,” she further added.

Dan Orlovsky takes a dig at Stephen A. Smith for a wild first pitch in a hilarious video

Notably, Stephen A. Smith has been famous for his hot takes across various sports. The analyst has received a fair share of criticism from users for his take. During this, he has hit former football quarterback Dan Orlovsky on several occasions. This “choke” from Smith has now given the now-turned-analyst the opportunity to fire back at him. He would not let this opportunity slip by.

The ex-quarterback would share a video of him in his house. In the video, he would be seen throwing things around while his three children looked at him. After he tossed the cap, the children were seen getting annoyed and shouting, “Dad, stop being like Stephen A!” Orlovsky would later look into the camera and call out Smith while doing his best impression of him.

Stephen A. that was blasphemous, atrocious, unfabulous… that was terrible,” Orlovsky said while trying not to laugh. This was done in a direct dig at Smith who has used similar words for him in the past. A taste of his own medicine for the ESPN analyst.

He is not the only one to share their amazement and laugh at him. Celebrities like Snoop Dogg and Steve Harvey have also slammed him for this pitch. Unsurprisingly, Smith called out himself during the game, admitted his error, and claimed he was trying to throw a changeup. The trolls are unlikely to stop soon for him, and his recent takes on baseball probably make things worse for him.
