All good things must come to an end. A simple sentence heard numerous times. This simple yet effective sentence was proven once again as the Tampa Bay Rays reached their worst slump of the season. The American East leaders started off the season in the most red hot form. They went on to win 13 straight games and set various records. Things have changed abruptly since then, and on Saturday, the Rays recorded their seventh consecutive loss.
Over the first two months of the season, the Rays steamrolled almost everyone. They had a 29-7 record through the first week of May. However, nobody would have predicted this for the Rays. They are now 28-28 in their last 56 games and have lost the red-hot momentum they had at the start of the season. Their 6-1 loss to the Braves on Saturday gave away some worrying signs for the team.
In contrast to other teams, the Rays still have the second best record in the MLB. The only team ahead of them are their current opponents, the Atlanta Braves. Pitcher Zack Eflin, who will be on the mound for the final game before the ASG break, claimed there is no need to be concerned just yet.
“Stuff like this is going to happen in a 162-game season,” Eflin said. He added that their performances before have given them a cushion, and despite a little fumble, they will not be changing anything. Their main issue has been their offensive struggles. The side has been restricted to one or zero runs in their last four of the five games.

To think that the Rays would start off so strongly and then witness such an intense dip in form would have been wild. After losing the series to the Mariners, they were swept by the Phillies. They are now in danger of getting swept by the Braves if they are unable to find a positive result in Sunday’s game.
According to official stats, this is their worst offensive span since 2017. The team is hitless in their last sixteen at bats with runners in scoring position. Things can change quickly again if they are just able to get this right. Fans on Twitter were not going to pass up such an opportunity. Here are a few reactions from Twitter following their seventh straight loss.
The other thing that the Rays will have to be careful of is theBaltimore Orioles. The O’s have been one of the surprise packages this season and have picked up some strong performances. Following this loss by the Rays, they are just two games (53-35) behind the top. They now have a realistic chance of toppling them from the top spot.
