The one thing that makes sports uncomfortable is to watch his injuries. They are the most common part of the game. In contact sports like baseball, the chances of getting hit by the ball or the bat are always there. On Saturday, LA Angels Taylor Ward was on the receiving end of an unfortunate injury against the Blue Jays. He was stuck by a fastball through Alek Manoah in the face and fall down in the dirt.

This scary situation took place in the fifth inning. With the bases loaded, Ward stepped up to the plate with the game still scoreless. The outfielder got drilled right on the forehand through a fastball. He would fall down to the ground and was spotted bleeding leaving everyone in concern. As soon as the pitch hit him, Alek Manoah was seen disturbed by the accident.

Alek Manoah prays for safety of Taylor Ward following nasty incident

It has been a tough year for Alek Manoah. After waiving accusations of cheating on Gerrit Cole, the Blue Jays southpaw has endured a difficult phase. For his poor performances, he was assigned to minor leagues. Things did not change for him there as well as he continued to struggle. He though managed to make his way back into the starting rotation.

Following this nasty incident, Manoah too left the game, visibly game. “That’s probably the worst feeling ever. I’m definitely going to pray for him and his family,” Manoah said after the game. He added this is the last thing anybody wants to do no matter the situation or anything. Taylor Ward’s teammate Mike Moustakas said the situation did not look too good.

Such incidents usually take out the sting from the game. As the bases were loaded and he was hit by a pitch, the Angels opened the scoring. Definitely not in the way they would have hoped for. This was their only run as the Blue Jays came back to win the game 6-1. This result also meant that the Blue Jays had won the series.

Speaking on Ward, there have been no further updates regarding his health. As per manager Phil Nevin, he has undergone some tests whose results have not been announced yet.
