On Monday night, the Houston Astros were eliminated from the postseason. Their Game 7 loss at the hands of the Texas Rangers ended their quest to retain the World Series. While the fans have been celebrating their failure wildly, one person is getting blamed for this. Senator Ted Cruz has found his name on the tongue of some baseball faithful for his “curse“.
The government official has been slammed for jinxing the games. He along with his wife had been attending every Astros postseason home game. The fans are blaming his presence in the stands and labeling him as bringing bad luck to the team.
This is however not the first time, he has found himself on the receiving end of the wrath of the fans. Five years ago in 2018, he was blamed for jinxing the Houston Rockets. He attended the game where they were eliminated from the NBA Championships.
As soon as it was announced that Cruz would be attending the game, users started begging him not to do so. Unfortunately, their pleas were not heard and the Senator was present at the Minute Maid Park to cheer on the Astros. As things have gone with him, the 2022 champions lost the game and failed to win even a single home game in this series.
Ted Cruz fired back at people slamming him for the “Cruz Curse”
Senator Ted Cruz has been a popular figure in Texas. His reputation and political career have been challenged by many on social media. While speaking on sports, he seems to be an avid sports fan while following several teams from his state. With him being super active on the internet, it was obvious he was going to fire back at the critics.
While replying to a tweet posted by Rolling Stone Article on X (formerly called Twitter) he claimed that words of a “curse” are a lie. He also mentioned that if they are blaming him, they should also thank him for the achievements of the Astros.
"For 7 years. Catherine and I have attended nearly EVERY Astros home playoff games. If they’re going to blame me for our recent home losses, pls also credit us for TWO World Series Championships & SEVEN consecutive ALCS’s—we were there cheering Stros on!"
The debate on this topic has sparked up on social media now. The Astros had a poor Game 7 performance where starting pitcher Cristian Javier only lasted one inning. His poor start was followed by a strong offensive performance from the Rangers which propelled them to an 11-4 triumph and booked their place in the World Series this year.
