Former All-Star pitcher Tom Browning is the only Cincinnati Reds pitcher to pitch a perfect game, he pitched the 12th perfect game in baseball history in 1988 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Browning was arrested over the weekend for operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI), court records show.

Tom Browning admitted to drinking bourbon and told officers he had a marijuana pipe in his pocket. He also slurred his speech and appeared intoxicated during sobriety tests, according to the police report. Georgetown police bodycam video showed Browning failing a field sobriety test after police said his vehicle ran off the road, hit a light pole and eventually crashed into a house.

Tom Browning was never a stranger to fines as one of his famous gags earned him a $500 fine from the then Cincinnati Reds manager Davey Johnson, Browning on July 7, 1993, he sneaked out of Wrigley Field during a Reds-Cubs game and spent one-half inning with fans on the rooftop of 3643 North Sheffield Avenue in full uniform in one of baseball’s most legendary pranks.

The house into which Tom Browning crashed was in a town about an hour southeast of Cincinnati, he crashed into a light pole, a tree and finally a house after he lost control of his vehicle. The incident reportedly occurred at about 11:30 pm on Saturday night. No one in the home was injured in the crash.

Police records showed Tom Browning’s blood-alcohol level was an 0.127. The legal limit is 0.08. Police body camera video shows arrest of former Reds’ all-star pitcher Browning was extremely unsettling, Mr. Perfect’s Hall of Fame image is very much up in the air.

Tom is also the co-author of Tom Browning’s Tales from the Reds Dugout, now, posted a $2,000 bond and is due back in court on Sept. 14. He said he had been attending a fundraiser for the bassist Bootsy Collins in Hamilton, Ohio, about 90 minutes northwest of Georgetown, and was en route to his home in Edgewood, Ky.
