“Wasn’t a tough call”: Tony La Russa stands tall with his decision to intentionally walk Turner
Tony La Russa
Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa was filled with annoyance when he was asked about his decision to intentionally walk Trea Turner with a 1-2 count, in the sixth inning, in the post-match interview. Los Angeles Dodgers took an 11-9 victory home at Guaranteed Rate Field on Thursday afternoon.
The social media was overflowing with concerning reactions towards Tony La Russa’s move as the left-handed reliever Bennett Sousa was then followed by Max Mancy’s three home runs.
The 77-years-old manager, Tony La Russa did not falter according to himself, his confidence comes from the three World Series titles and 2847 career victories over the years. He won the World Series title once with Oakland Athletics and twice with St Louis Cardinals.

Tony La Russa flabbergasted at fans and pundits questioning his decisions
In the post-match interview, La Russa found it to be very arguable when the questions were put up. The fierce-felt manager had words to say.
“Do you know what he [Turner] hits against left-handed pitching with one [strike], 0-1, or two strikes, do you know what he hits?” La Russa asked. “Do you know what Muncy hits with two strikes, against a left-handed pitcher? Is that really a question?
“Because it was 1-2? Turner with a strike left against a left-hander is something you avoid if you can, and we had an open base and Muncy being the guy behind him, and that’s a better matchup. There again, if somebody disagrees, that’s the beauty of this game. Welcome to it. But that wasn’t a tough call.”

Max Muncy was fired up with aggression when he saw La Russa letting Turner walk with two strikes, he shouted, “You f**king walk him with two strikes? F**K YOU BI**H,” when he laid a home-run for his team.
Muncy had been on the injury list preceding this encounter with the Chicago White Sox. He has these words while walking back to the pen as even he was surprised to see Turner getting an intentional walk. He said in an interview, “Obviously my year has sucked up to this point. Trea has been really good, but at the moment, I was animated and obviously did that. The baseball mind in me gets it. At the same time, I don’t know that walking someone with two strikes is ever the right move. But I understand it now. But at the time, you get a little animated.”
“I was just confused. That was it really. I didn’t know if I should go first or not,” Turner replied to being asked upon how he felt after Tony La Russa’s move.
