The sporting season across the US is running at an all time. With the new NFL and NHL season, fans are also experiencing the thrills of postseason baseball. One man who has been the center of attention recently is Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce. He has been a star due to his dating life with popular pop icon Taylor Swift. Kelce once again stole the headlines when he along with his brother, Jason, headlined the first game of the NLCS in Philadelphia.
As the Philadelphia Phillies welcomed the Arizona Diamondbacks at Citizens Bank Park, the fans were in a boisterous mood. The Kelce brothers got a taste of this in the city of Brotherly Love as they made themselves guests for the big game.
While Travis may be playing for the Kansas-based side, his brother plays in Philadelphia for the Eagles. So it was no second-guessing who they were rooting for during this exciting matchup.
During the game, Jason would take to his socials and provide an update regarding the game. “Hey it’s Red October baby, Philly season is here… and we’re dominating tonight,” he said while switching the camera to his brother. The Chiefs man claimed “this place is rocking” when asked about the atmosphere of the game. They were in for a wild night as the Phillies took down the D-Backs to take Game 1.
Bryce Harper shines on birthday to lead Phillies to 5-3 victory
When talking about a great Philadelphia Phillies performance, it is highly impossible not to mention the name of Bryce Harper. The slugger has contributed massively towards the success of his team. He played a huge part in their NLDS series win over the Atlanta Braves. He did the same again on Monday night as he led them to a 5-3 win on his 31st birthday.
Harper turned 31 yesterday and made sure he would celebrate wildly with the fans. He would gift them with a special performance while hitting a home run and driving in another run. The crowd at the stadium would erupt in huge applause as Harper connected with his shot early in the first inning against D-Backs’ ace Zac Gallen. A surprising stat recorded the crowd volume at a high 111 decibels toward the Harper home run.
Harper would thus become the fourth player to slam a home run on his birthday during the postseason, joining the likes of Willie Aikens, Evan Longoria, and Kolten Wong. His celebration was also a cold one as he put up three and one on his fingers to display 31 while blowing it in reference to blowing a candle on the cake.
There were also home runs from Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos as the Phillies ran riot over the D-Backs. They now have taken the first game and have the momentum on their side. It will be interesting to see what the response from the D-Backs will be in Game 2.
