Following the widespread criticism for their actions, Washington Nationals pitcher Trevor Williams slammed the Los Angeles Dodgers for reigniting the pride night celebration. The Los Angeles franchise has received huge backlash on social media for their decision to reinvite The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, an activist group for their annual celebration.
The 31-year-old southpaw expressed his displeasure at this incident. He took to his social media account and lashed at the group for continuously mocking his religion of Catholicism. He later urged the organization to think about its decision. Williams and his side take on the Dodgers in a two-game series later on.
In his post, Williams mentioned that the plan to “invite and honor a group that makes a blatant and deeply offensive mockery,” of his religion is a clear violation of the franchise’ policy. He later encouraged his “fellow Catholics” to reconsider their decision to support a team who is allowing this injustice and discrimination to take place.
LA Dodgers under tremendous heat following decision to allow the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to perform

The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the most popular franchises in MLB. A big organization such as theirs has won many honors and accolades in its history, However their decision to allow The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to perform at pride night has not gone down well with fans around the country. Dodger fans themselves are now questioning this development by their team.
A few days ago the Dodgers announced their 10th annual LGBTQ+ Pride night celebration. The club announced that the celebration will take place on 16th June this year. The decision was also announced by club legend, Clayton Kershaw, who himself received heavy backlash for carrying with this plan. The veteran pitcher on Monday accepted his mistake and mentioned he does not agree with this plan.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have continued to support the community programs. Their commitment to making sure the trans community is not subjected to prejudice has been praised before. However this decision to invite the group might turn out to be a risky one. Interestingly they had retaken their invitation earlier following the backlash. The team though later apologized to the group and again invited the group.
Will the Dodgers track back and once again take away the invitation is unclear. They have not made any statement following the second backlash but if things keep on going this way, they soon might be forced to change their scheduled plans for the future.
