“Abolish fan voting”: Twitter disappointed as Shohei Ohtani edges Yordan Alvarez for AL starting DH
Shohei Ohtani, Yordan Alvarez
The MLB All-Star fan voting ended just recently, with many a surprising results as the outcome. Perhaps the most surprising result for the fans must have been the American League Designated Hitter vote. While Shohei Ohtani placed second behind Yordan Alvarez in phase one, it was the former that overtook the latter to win the starting role.
A fan vote for the All Stars game does not always mean that the best or most deserving players make the list. Due to this, fans are calling for the removal of the fan vote, to make it fairer for the players who might not be the most popular, but have the most potential. As Alvarez had a far better season than Shohei, fans shared their opinion on twitter.
Shohei Ohtani’s vote win leaves twitter surprised
The fans on Twitter were left disappointed and questioning who was actually worthy of the winner of the voting- Shohtei or Alvarez. They were also questioning the validity of fan voting; as to whether it is is valid or not.
Who is more deserving of the lineup is still up for debate, however, it is justified that the fan voting may not always work out in the neutral favour of the Stars.
