The current National League champions Philadelphia Phillies are set to receive a major boost. Their star player Bryce Harper is reported to reappear and make it to the lineup for his 2023 debut.
According to manager, Rob Thompson, the player is ready to have an important follow-up meeting with this health physician in LA on Monday. If everything goes as per plan, Harper will be eligible to take part in his team’s match against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday.
Harper got injured just before Thanksgiving last year. He later underwent Tommy John surgery. If he does make his return on Tuesday night against the Dodgers, then it will have taken him less than six months to recover. “It’ll be tomorrow and then we’ll see what happens,” Thompson informed.
The schedule of his return could not be more perfect than this. The Phillies will go into the series against the Dodgers after winning their three game series against the Houston Astros.
They have won their last four series and are riding high on momentum. They are currently placed fourth in the National League East, four games back the first-place Braves in a tight division.

In regards to batting, the Phillies are aligned in the top three this year. Despite missing key players like Rhys Hoskins, Trea Turner, and Bryce Harper, they have a batting average of .261 with a .680 OPS. The two-time MVP’s return was anticipated to be back during the All-Star break in July. Now he could even feature in that showpiece event.
The Phillies faithful have been making huge noise since this news broke out. His return gives them a huge edge over other teams. Here are some of the reactions from Twitter anticipating the return of Harper.
Harper played a major part for the Phillies in the 2022 season as the team reached the Fall Classic despite the odds against them. In his 99 games, he slammed 18 home runs and cashed in a total of 65 RBIs. He batted with a batting average of .382.
He led both the home-run and RBI category in the postseason last year with 6 home runs and 13 RBIs to his name respectively. The 30-year-old would probably start as Designated-Hitter (DH).
