Just as things were looking a little better for the Los Angeles Angels, they have been stuck by lightning. Their star player, Mike Trout, is now on his way to the injured list after he suffered a wrist injury. The incident took place in the first game of the series against the San Diego Padres. Trout would exit the game after injuring his wrist in the eighth inning.
He has now been placed on a 10-day injured list. After battling a 0-1 count against relief pitcher Nick Martinez, he was shaken back from the jolt. Following the initial scan by the medical team, he was not allowed to finish the at-bat and took an early shower. X-Ray reports now show that Trout has broken the hamate bone in his left wrist and will miss action in the upcoming days.
“I can’t describe the pain I felt, I never felt it before, ever, before this,” a visibly shaken Trout said. He later added that he has never had any injury problems regarding his wrists. The timing of the injury could not get any worse as the eagerly anticipated All-Star Game is up next week. Trout, who was named as a starter along with Aaron Judge, was replaced from the game.

Injuries are one of the most common things in sports. Many players have seen their careers go off-track due to them. Baseball fans have now started to worry that Trout could be one of those unlucky ones. Injuries have been constant with the LA Angels man. On Tuesday, Trout claimed that his season is not over and will likely return in August.
For the LA Angels, this was the thing they would have hoped to avoid the most. The franchise is right in the mix of a playoff run. However, the absence of Trout could put huge pressure on the shoulders of Shohei Ohtani to carry on forward. Here are some reactions regarding this unfortunate incident regarding Trout.
The Angels find themselves in the middle of a postseason race. Though they are six games behind their division leaders, Texas Rangers, they are right in the mix for wildcard spots. A month-long run-in with Trout could dampen their chances of reaching the knockout stages. It will be interesting to see how the Angels cope with the loss of their superstar.
