New York Yankees slugger and current captain Aaron Judge is one of the talking points. He has been the center of attention for quite a while now. The reigning American League MVP has once again been in the spotlight. This time though, it’s for different reasons. Fans and experts have been curious regarding the mystery of his belt.

Just like every other player, Judge wears a uni-numbered belt. He goes by the number “99” on his back and his belt. So far this season, the number “99” on his belt has been spotted upside-down, making it “66” in various games. This has led to speculation about whether Judge is even aware that his number is rotated or if this is just another one of the rituals players follow.

In 2022, Judge smashed 62 home runs in the regular season and broke the record for the most by a Yankee player in a single season. Roger Maris was the one who held that record with 61 to this name. In the offseason, Judge would end all the contract drama surrounding him by agreeing on terms with the Yankees again. He would pick the season on from where he left off the previous one by slamming a solo home run at his first at-bat this season.

The mystery revolving around Judge’s belt has left the spectators coming up with their theories and reactions. Apparently his teammate Kyle Higashioka dons the number “66” at his back. Could it be something related to him? Maybe he decided to switch belts with him or maybe he lost some kind of bet and has to wear it for the remainder of the season?

Well, unless Judge talks about it, this conversation will continue. Regarding his playing ability, Judge is currently batting at an average of .302 with five home runs and 8 RBIs. Another question is whether Judge will be able to replicate the heroics of last season. It’s still early to predict, but he has a significant role to play if the Yankees reach the top of the mountain again.

The Yankees have been a little inconsistent through the season so far. They lost their series opener against the Guardians before returning to win the next two games. Following that, they lost the three-game series to the Twins. They were hammered in that first game against the Twins, conceding nine runs in the very first inning. This string of results has left them with a 9-6 record in their first fifteen games. Not disregarding their opponents, but a team like the Yankees would be hoping for a much better performance.
