The Los Angeles Dodgers have once again become the most talked about team in MLB. The 7-time World Series winners splashed around $700 million on two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani. Following this mega move, the Dodgers acquired starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow. He has now spoken about his new team and labeled them as a “super-team“.
The 30-year-old ace pitcher joined the Dodger Blue through a trade. This move saw him leave the Tampa Bay Rays after six seasons. He would later agree on a five-year $136.5 million contract extension.
The Dodgers have been known across the MLB for their spending and huge signings. Their acquirement of Ohtani and Glasnow added further firepower to their star-studded squad. On being asked about whether he considered this as a super team, the new Dodgers pitcher would not hesitate from it. He would say while appearing on the Foul Territory:
I would say I think that you can characterize this as a super team... it's a lot of really good players, for sureTyler Glasnow on Los Angeles Dodgers.
Tyler Glasnow makes pitch for Yoshinobu Yamamoto to join LA Dodgers
While the Los Angeles Dodgers may have already landed two big names, they are far from down in the market. Despite the signing of Shohei Ohtani, the team is actively in the hunt for the signature of NPB MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Several teams are fighting to get their hands on him. Tyler Glasnow has now made a pitch for the Japanese star to join the Dodgers.
While appearing at Foul Territory, Glasnow would speak about how he was not involved in the negotiation process but did claim that he would be happy to see him join them as well. He further claimed it would be “sick” to have him on the team. and offered the idea of getting to play with Ohtani as a benefit for joining the Dodgers.
I haven't been like in on trying to get Yamamoto, I would love to...That would be so sick if we got him.Tyler Glasnow on his involvement on trying to recruit Yoshinobu Yamamoto through Foul Territory.
When asked to pitch an idea for Yamamoto to join the Dodgers, Glasnow offered him the chance of getting to play with Ohtani as a benefit for joining them among several other points.
You'd have the best life on and off the field... You'd get to play with Shohei Ohtani.Tyler Glasnow listing out points to Yoshinobu Yamamoto to join LA Dodgers through Foul Territory.
Glasnow would also praise Ohtani and the influence he has already over the Dodgers organization. The southpaw revealed how the 2023 American League MVP added a “lot of points” for him to sign an extension. He revealed receiving a video from Ohtani with translation texts which he quickly saved in his camera roll. Check out what Glasnow said about Ohtani in a video shared by Foul Territory on X below:
In such a short time with the Dodgers, Ohtani has already started to impress the fans with his leadership skills and his goals for the future. Several sets of eyes will surely be on the National League side now as they enter the Ohtani era in 2024. One major question is whether the Dodgers will become too overpowerful if they successfully recruit Yamamoto in the upcoming days.
