Watch: Vaughn Grissom dispatching an absolute 440-foot HR nuke, “Rookie is FEARLESS” statement delivered
Vaughn Grissom
Vaughn Grissom is a 21-year-old rookie who has made that the jump from Double-A Mississippi to the Majors, bolster the bottom of Atlanta’s line-up in a way that would unsettle any big-league pitcher. He and his dexterous teammate Michael Harris II keep impressing the Major League Baseball world with their offensive and defensive skills.
Vaughn Grissom has only had four Major League games’ worth of experience, but Atlanta Braves’ No.1 prospect per MLB pipeline doesn’t shy away from showcasing what he is capable of. Vaughn Grissom scorches a home run to left-center field, scoring Marcell Ozuna and increasing the Braves’ lead to 3-0 in the 5th inning.
“He’s a talented kid,” Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker said of Grissom. “I mean, you just want him to keep doing what he’s doing not trying to do anymore because, you know, it’s been pretty impressive so far in a short, short sample.”
Youth-Trending in the Braves dugout, Vaughn Grissom and Harris II impressing MLB world
“I’m super shocked. What a moment. I didn’t know what else to think but, ‘Wow,'” Vaughn Grissom expressed. He even made a nice jumping catch on a ball off the bat of Garrett Cooper to seal the win
“I can’t even put it into words,” Vaughn Grissom said. “We’ve all really got me here to this point. So, for them to be here, to watch it, it was one of the best things in my life.” Like Ronald Acuna Jr., Vaughn Grissom, too has flashed his acumen, snagging a line drive from Garrett Cooper with impressive hops for the final out of the game, with bases loaded, nonetheless.
The night did belong to Grissom, who might have felt the nerves of a major league stage but certainly didn’t show it. “He just seemed like a kid on the playground, pretty much just having a ball,” Snitker said. “It’s genuine. That guy just really likes to play baseball.”
Vaughn Grissom will likely split time with Ozzie Albies at second base and serve as a designated hitter. Austin Riley, Dansby Swanson and Matt Olson are must-starts at their infield positions every day if they are healthy.
