Washington Nationals, Joey Meneses send heart touching gesture towards young fan after unfortunate incident

Do you remember the game between the Washington Nationals and the Oakland Athletics where a grown up fan stole a baseball from a young kid who was eager to catch it ? Yes! finally we’ve got optimistic news, the Washington Nationals have sent a match ball along with a note by Joey Meneses to the young fan.

After the incident Gina Hilliard, mother of young fan Avery took to Twitter- posting the video of the man stealing the ball from Avery. She tagged the Washington Nationals and asked if they could get a ball signed by Joey Meneses and send it for her daughter. A few days later the Washington Nationals did get back to her asking her for her details.

Gina Hilliard was grateful to the response of the Nationals saying- “They are sending something our way and hope that this can serve as a symbol of a good experience at the park rather than a bad one.”

Good news MLB fans. The Washing ton Nationals didn’t only send young Avery a match ball signed by Joey Meneses, but it also came with a hand-written note for the 10 year-old which read: “I’m sorry you didn’t get the ball I threw to you. I wanted to make sure you got one, so I hope this signed game ball makes up for it! Hope to see you at a game soon! Your friend Joey”

10 year-old Avery who is a Shenandoah Recreation League softball player, was overjoyed by the gesture carried forward by the Washington Nationals, her mother Gina also thanked the Nationals for their support. Even though Avery was very disappointed by the man who stole her match ball, neither she nor her mother have any bad blood with him. “We don’t want him to get into trouble,” said Gina Hilliard. “He was probably having a bad night.”
