WATCH- “Gotta love the hustle” Bowen Plagge makes one of the greatest double plays in minor league history
Bowen Plagge
The Single-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, have a very athletic pitcher on their hands. Bowen Plagge, one of their pitchers, is so athletic that he very possibly might have made one of the greatest double plays in history. Bowen Plagge took matters into his own hands during the Carolina Mudcats, and it is a performance to remember.
In the bottom of the eighth inning against the Carolina Mudcats, Kannapolis was trailing 9-6. The Kannapolis second baseman deftly threw behind the hesitant runner at third after the Carolina batter blasted a Plagge pitch with only one out and a man on third. While pitchers aren’t considered to be the most athletic, Plagge proved the stereotypes wrong.
The future is looking bright for Bowen Plagge, if not in MLB then in the NFL for sure
When the runner attempted to move back toward the plate, Plagge performed his job and covered home, allowing the runner to catch a toss from his teammate and continue the play. That’s how things usually go, at least, until Plagge dipped into his bag of tricks and not only chased down the third-base runner but also the batter who was greedily attempting to steal third, round the corner like a prime Deion Sanders.
Plagge’s stunning showcase of speed caught the attention of the baseball world, and Twitter was all for his amazing performance. The future seems bright for the minor league baseball player. Overall, Plagge made a fantastic play. If baseball doesn’t work out for him, he might have a future as a gunner in the NFL.
