Another successful MLB season is now in the books. The year 2023 saw its fair share of ups and downs as players jostled hard in the season. In the end, the Texas Rangers stood above the rest as they took home the ultimate crown. While that might be done, the season still has some things before closing out, the BBWAA awards for 2023.

The league recently the Gold Glove awards winner. That list was dominated by the likes of Adolis Garcia and Fernando Tatis Jr. Meanwhile, Anthony Volpe became the first Yankee rookie to win this award. The BBWAA has now announced the finalists for the remaining awards including the MVPs of the respective league.

Even before they were announced, fans had already selected their winners. The names of Shohei Ohtani and Ronald Acuna Jr. are on the minds of tongues of everyone. Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year

As the name suggests, this award is handed to the best rookies of the season. Named after the legendary Jackie Robinson, this award highlights the individual talents who stunned the world with their awesome style of play and played a huge part in their team’s success this season.

Tanner Bibbe (Clevland Guardians), Triston Casas (Red Sox), and Gunnar Henderson (Baltimore Orioles) are the three finalists for this prestigious award from the American League. Meanwhile, the National League nominees see the names of James Outman (LA Dodgers), Kodai Senga (NY Mets), and Arizona D-backs’s Corbin Carroll. The winners of this will be announced on Monday, November 13.

Manager of the Year

A successful man at the helm is very important to the team’s success. This year several managers were able to impress the audiences with their tactics as the players followed them.

When it comes to this award, the name of Bruce Bochy (Texas Rangers) was always going to be there. He led the Rangers to their first-ever World Series title after all. The other two managers are from the same division as Kevin Cash (Rays) and Brandon Hyde (Baltimore Orioles) join him. The National League participants are Brian Snitker (Atlanta Braves), Skip Schumaker (Miami Marlins), and Craig Counsell (Milwaukee Brewers). This award will be announced on Tuesday, November 14.

Cy Young Award

Named after the pitcher with the most wins in MLB history, Cy Young, this award is given to the best pitchers of the league. An ace as many call are some pitchers who are just unplayable on the day. This year several pitchers showed off their excellent command of the pitch to get nominated for this one.

Two-time award winner Gerrit Cole (NY Yankees) is hoping for his third one now. He will have to see off Kevin Gausman (Blue Jays) and Sonny Gray (Minnesota Twins) to claim this prize. The southpaws nominated for this award in the National League are Zac Gallen (D-backs), Logan Webb (SF Giants), and Blake Snell (Padres). Fans will learn about the winners of this on Wednesday, 15th November.

Most Valuable Player

No second guesses, this award is given to the best player of the league. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award signifies the dominance the player had over this team and respective leagues. This year several big names have been nominated for this amazing award.

Former winner Shohei Ohtani is the obvious name in the minds of many. The Japanese sensation once again left the world in awe with his performances. He will have to battle out two Rangers players Corey Seager and Marcus Semien for this one though. Both of these players were key to their team’s triumph this season with Seager being named the World Series MVP.

On the National League side, it is hard to argue to deny the excellence of Ronald Acuna Jr. The Braves man broke several records and became the first member of the 40-70 club. All of this has made him the favorite to claim this prize. He could very well claim this honor in front of the LA Dodgers duo of Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman on November 16th.
