New York Yankees fans once lashed out at Alex Rodriguez for calling Travis Scott a ‘Legend’

Speaking of contemporary baseball legends, Alex Rodriguez is one of the names synonymously that come to every fan. The Yankees legend had one of the most illustrious careers of all time, becoming a fan favorite within the New York-based MLB team. Even though he had previously criticized the Houston Astros for their cheating allegations, he was present at the World Series match between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Astros at Minute Maid Park.

He was seen hanging out with two contemporary icons- hip-hop star Travis Scott and former Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson. A-Rod posted a picture alongside these two icons, calling them a ‘Legend.’ However, his fans did not appreciate his caption for these icons.

The 2022 World Series finals were phenomenal for all the fans watching. The Astros beat the Phillies 4-2 and grabbed their second championship. Amongst all the high-profile guests present, Travis Scott and Andre Johnson were there at Minute Maid Park cheering for the Astros.

Following the game, Alex Rodriguez took to his Instagram and posted a picture with the hip-hop and NFL icons. He describes in the caption, “Hanging with two legends, @ajohnson1500 and @travisscott in Houston!” While A-Rod was well-suited with a black suit and tie, Travis and Andre appeared wearing the Astros jersey at the game.

Travis Scott is also synonymous as a name when it comes to giving back to his hometown Houston. The Texan dedicated his studio album ‘Astro World’ to the now-defunct amusement park of the same name. Rodriguez’s fans were not entirely pleased with him calling Cactus Jack a ‘legend.’

The fans could be seen expressing their frustration in the comments section. One fan writes, “Travis Scott stopped being a legend after his Houston concert ended in tragedy! Not good!”

Another fan has a similar expression: “Brah, Travis Scott is NOT a Legend!!!”

Some fans even questioned Travis Scott if he ever genuinely supported the Astros. They say, “Travis only shows up during the WS (World Series).”

Here, the fans are referring to the tragic stampede incident at Travis Scott’s concert in Houston on November 2021. The tragedy involved a fatal crowd rushes at the 2021 Astroworld Festival at Houston’s NRG Park. Eight people died that night due to accidental compressive asphyxiation. Furthermore, twenty-five people were hospitalized, alongside 300 reported injuries.

Travis Scott was explicitly criticized for his lack of concern during that moment. While the people were suffering in the crowd, he stood performing without helping in the situation. He has also faced several legal issues for disorderly conduct and causing riots during his concerts. Travis followed an apology through his Instagram a day after this incident.

While fans are divided about whether Travis Scott should be forgiven one year after this incident, he learned several lessons from this. He was banned from major concerts such as Coachella, joining the likes of the infamous league of artists such as DaBaby and Kanye ‘Ye’ West.

So, do you think A-Rod was right in calling Travis Scott a legend? Maybe, or maybe not.
